Once again girls and boys i will be taking a temporary break from blogging, i’ll try to keep you posted on whats going on in my warped otaku universe, but im currently under heavy strain to complete my degree. On another note i’m in the process of writing (and starting..) my proposal for my PHD, now i doubt i’ll be able to get the funding and even get accepted for the course but i’m going to try and put all my effort into researching and discussing my topic to at least make it look attractive for the course tutor. One other notable thing is my PhD wont be on japanese pop culture and if you’ve read the “about me” section on the site you’ll realize i have quite a passion for other Asian culture, so for my PhD i’m going to be looking into “southern Korean youth and popular culture”. Its something ive had an interest in for a couple of years now and its something that isn’t discussed in depth with western academic scholars so putting the interest and the low awareness of the subject into account ive decided to hone my PhD around that area.
Alas once all this work is over i’ll be back to my usual self during the summer or if not i’ll be frantically job hunting! Thanks for understanding.

After rumors an lies of a Freeloader disc for the wii, Datel have FINALLY graced us with an import swap disc to play all those touch and feel eroge wii games. Now i can finally make a long overdue purchase on negima…
Not got a great deal of time to blog at the moment but i’ll be writing some better posts as soon as essays and chunks of work are out the way. So whilst i’m busy i leave you with something that i thought was interesting…Chocobo Dungeon for Wii ! Now if this came out in europe id pick it up straight away as its cute, has great art work and you play as a chocobo!!
Girl’s Generation or “So Nyeo Si Dae” (SNSD) are a Nine member girl group from southern Korea. Their pretty new to the music scene debuting on 5th August 2007 with the single “Into the new world” and soon followed with the single “Kissing You” (both featured above). Their members are said to be bilingual speaking a concoction of languages between them and their age ranges from 16-18.
Being a fan of jpop i’ve grown custom to its over cuteness and stereotypical girl bands, which I have no problem against and still enjoy watching and listening to. SNSD were a group that was suggested to me by a friend and I really enjoyed their album! It has a nice blend of upbeat and slow pop and not to mention some nice looking ladies! The first single differs alot from the first album so don’t be put off by it and have a hunt for their other tracks. The girls voices on the first song somehow seems better than alot of their other work then again debut singles can sometimes differ from the artist’s later music.

Normally i wouldn’t listen to alot of kpop because, although this may sound strange it takes me a while to get used a different language through music, which may sound stupid but if im spending alot of time listening to music from asia or foreign music i like to sample what i can and understand the way they sing and use the words to tell stories (because songs are essentially stories), this one of the reasons why i cant seem to get into cpop or tpop at the moment, i find the accents and words a little bit to harsh and hard to remember or pronounce as I sing along. You may just think i’m being really strange but i enjoy music, it just takes time for me listen to the right styles.
I was lucky. Whilst ADV had their £1 knock off day via their online shop, i quickly snapped up the angelic layer DVDs and by quickly i mean they were gone in 10 minutes! The only problem is I now have 1,3,4,5,6 and am missing 2 and 7, now all along i was thinking “well if I’m missing DVDs surely at a £1 each they’ll come in plastic sleaves and i can just download the extra episodes”, but I really wasn’t expecting the sealed DVD cases! Now I need to find the remaining DVDs so they can sit nicely on my shelf until i finish marathoning Card Captor Sakura…
*Edit* I just found the remaining DVDs on Sendit.com If anyone did manage to buy dvds from the adv clear out and are missing any in the series, best bet would be to check there.
Shokotan has taken a short time out of her busy blogging/idol lifestyle to do some more photoshoots! yey! Now i would have never of guessed it but.. maybe its the chinese new year of the mouse? I’ll leave you to do decide..
I’ve been quite pleased that shokotan has finally gotten the success that she’s been looking for and with the success of Snow Tears holding onto the 2nd place of the oricon charts for the last two weeks its good to know people are enjoying her single and her performances. I’ve been listening to shokotan since she released brilliant dream and knew little about her since the debut yet was transfixed on the PV for the song and being one of the first jpop songs i had heard, it sent me off in a google hunt to find more about her (also about her Gravure shoots..). Personally i think she has a fantastic character which is DEFINATLY shown on her blog because alot of the time she uses her own super cute idol language that the translators seem to hate >___< but i get the jist of what she has to say...
One other point, i noticed on japanator a few weeks ago was very creative blogger known as “Tubbypaws” had drawn a picture of shokotan with her mouth over at cats head. Now if you’ve ever read or have been reading shokotan’s blog for a while you’ll know this this is a common occurance. So the lovely people at japanator have made a montage of her cat eating habbits. I’m sure their’s been times where we’ve all wanted to fit our cats head inside our mouth?…just me then?
More Jpop news for fans of Harenchi Punch, after the split of Saya i was unsure the direction the band would take and if or when their would be any new material from the remaining 2 members but ive been informed that the duo played a 1 off live street gig for the public.
Now it doesnt sound like theres an enormas amount of fans watching (but do harepan have many fans anyway?) but the thing i love about harepan is the fact that they’re doing it for a couple of reasons..
1. They’re bored not doing anything so playing on the street at winter time may cheer them, and other’s up.
2. Some kind of promotion stunt by the record label
3. Promote their new (and exclusive) song to the small group of adolescent males watching the performance.

I had a nice little surprise on my stumble downstairs this morning. And after i cleared my eyes and had a bit of a scratch, there lay a big parcel i’d been waiting a few weeks for!
Student loan is through and its time to show off my current goods..
I’ve been playing alot of pangya (albatross18) lately and somehow the character designs really interested me. So much so that i now have a small selection of pangya gashapons and the wii game…
